After hundreds of souls were taken by the mud, the ferryman comes to take them to their new home.

In Vale do Rio Morto (Valley of the Dead River), you become the ferryman, a mysterious old man wading through the muddy water with his trusty boat. He has a task, rescue and guide those lost in the mud.

The mud has destroyed everything, taking with it hundreds of souls. Those lost are bewildered at what has really happened, so it falls upon the ferryman to help them understand the truth.

The engineer, the cowgirl and the child each have their own perspective on the disaster, and keep accompany the ferryman in this journey in the spirit world.

About the Game

• Navigate your boat through the river of mud, avoiding debris and the ailing souls of the dead.
• The lantern is the ferryman's best friend, being used to reveal what lies beneath the mud and to banish aggressive spirits.
• Journey through the entrance to the valley, the misty ravine, the spectral marsh and the mine installations, but be careful with what you may find along the way.
• Take a moment of respite on the islands, enjoying the chance to talk to characters, spirits and find out about what really happened.

Inspired in Reality

Vale do Rio Morto is a game made by 6th semester brazillian game design students  from Universidade Anhembi Morumbi.

It was inspired by the disaster of Brumadinho, Minas Gerais, where a dam used to store iron mining residue crumbled, killing 270 people. One of the worst disasters in the history of Brazil. 

The game is a fantastic take on what could have happened after a disaster like that one, and was developed in the hope these victims are at peace.

Após centenas de almas serem levadas pela lama, o barqueiro vem para as levarem para sua nova casa.

Em Vale do Rio Morto, você controla o barqueiro, um velho misterioso navegando com seu barquinho com uma missão, resgatar e guiar aqueles perdidos na lama.

A lama destruiu tudo, levando consigo centenas de almas. Aqueles perdidos não sabem o que exatamente aconteceu, mas cabe ao barqueiro os ajudar a entender o que aconteceu.

O engenheiro, a vaqueira e a criança apresentam cada um sua perspectiva sobre o desastre e acompanham o barqueiro nessa jornada.

Sobre o jogo

• Navegue com seu barquinho pelo rio de lama, evitando obstáculos e as almas penadas.
• A lanterna é a melhor amiga do barqueiro, sendo usada para revelar segredos na lama, ou afugentar espíritos agressivos.
• Viaje pela entrada do vale,  o vale enevoado, a restinga espectral e as instalações da mina, mas cuidado com o que pode encontrar no caminho.
• Aproveite momentos de descanso nas ilhotas, conversando com os personagens e descobrindo mais sobre o que realmente aconteceu.

Vale do RIo Morto é um jogo feito por alunos do 6º semestre do curso de design de games da Universidade Anhembi Morumbi. E

le foi inspirado no desastre de Brumadinho, Minas Gerais, onde uma barragem de dejetos de minério de ferro desabou e matou 270 pessoas, um dos piores desastres ambientais do Brasil. 

O jogo é uma visão fantasiosa sobre o que acontece depois, desenvolvido com respeito as vítimas, na esperança que estejam em paz.
